So, I have a friend, whom none of you know, who doesn’t have a tumblr, whose picture is being passed all around peoples blogs, and she’s a little freaked out by this.

Why is it being passed around you ask?

Well, because there are SPG band members tag in them.

I want to say, just because you find a picture with David, or Bunny, or Jon, or Steve, or Sam, or Michael in it somewhere on the internets doesn’t mean you can post it to your tumblr. It just doesn’t.

I mean, the guys and girl of the band, they are public figures and they expect people to go trolling for pics of them. But when there are people you don’t know,in a setting you have no knowledge of in the picture as well, particularly and especially if the band member is not in there SPG persona, or representing the band in some way, you have NO RIGHT TO TAKE SAID PICTURE AND POST IT ON YOUR BLOG! Most of these pics I am seeing are from the facebook pages of people you don’t know.

Think about it. Isn’t that a little bit creepy.

And I know you’re going to say, but Seppi, you’re old you just don’t understand the internets these days… the Internet doesn’t care, and some one else is just going to take this picture anyway, so why can’t I be the first to post it. Well, to that I say, you are not the Internet, or somebody else… you are the person in charge of your actions and you can choose to be respectful of other peoples privacy.

It’s not fair that someone should feel that they need to pull down their social networking profile just because you feel the need to take their stuff…. AND if you were to find a picture you really couldn’t do without, you post could wait an hour or a day while you get permission from said person to use their picture. (which is still a little creepy, but… anyway)

Those of you who know me know that I consider myself acquaintances with some or the band members and friends with some of the others (and just a fan of those i don’t know). And I post and share pictures from the zoo and fun stuff like that… but I don’t post other pictures to tumblr because they are private and are for me and my friends. I don’t even post them to facebook, because I don’t want them to end up on tumblr… my friendship is not fodder for you to fan-girl over. Alas, that means i can not share them with family and friend…

I hope you understand what I am talking about.

I hope you choose to be respectful in your photo hunting. I can’t stop you if you do go and pillage people’s facebooks, but… I would hope you wouldn’t.
